Why CQA Exists
Construction Quality Australia was established by senior industry professionals who recognised a systemic challenge within the construction sector — recurring defects, costly rework and inconsistent quality outcomes across projects.
Despite shared industry challenges, there was no dedicated, independent body focused solely on advancing construction quality at a national level.
CQA was formed to address this gap.
By bringing together experienced quality leaders from across Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, infrastructure organisations and specialist sectors, CQA provides a unified strategy to strengthen standards, improve consistency and quantify and reduce avoidable error.
The Industry Challenge
Australia’s construction industry loses billions of dollars each year due to rework, post-completion defects and preventable quality failures. With operating margins often as low as 2–3%, these inefficiencies place significant pressure on contractors, subcontractors and clients alike.
Beyond financial impact, inconsistent quality undermines project certainty, productivity and public confidence in the built environment.
CQA exists to help the industry address these challenges through structured improvement, shared knowledge and practical collaboration.

Our Purpose
CQA’s purpose is to unite construction professionals, organisations and stakeholders in advancing consistent, high-quality outcomes across the sector.
CQA engages with regulators, government bodies and industry associations not to carry favour, but to demonstrate commitment on behalf of the sector and align on practical, industry-led solutions.
Advocating for stronger quality leadership and accountability
Strengthening technical capability through education and training
Sharing practical knowledge and lessons learnt
Promoting standardised systems and best-practice tools
