Construction Quality Australia (CQA) is proud to support World Quality Week 2026 for another year, a global celebration of the professionals, organisations and industries committed to delivering excellence through quality. This year's theme: "Quality: Powering Performance", highlights the critical role that quality plays in improving productivity, driving innovation, strengthening trust and delivering sustainable outcomes.

For the construction industry, this message could not be more relevant.

Why Quality Matters More Than Ever

Australia's construction sector continues to face significant challenges including productivity pressures, skills shortages, increasing regulatory expectations, supply chain complexity and rising project costs. In this environment, quality is often viewed as a compliance requirement, a final inspection activity - or at worst a tick and flick exercise.

But in reality, Quality is one of the most powerful drivers of project performance. When quality is embedded from planning through to handover, projects experience:

• Fewer defects and less rework

• Better safety outcomes

• Improved programme certainty

• Reduced waste and cost overruns

• Greater client satisfaction

• Enhanced workforce capability

• Stronger organisational reputation

• Are our quality systems really helping teams make better decisions?

• Are we identifying risks early enough?

• Are lessons learned being captured and shared?

• Are we using digital tools to improve assurance and traceability?

• Are our supply chains aligned to consistent quality expectations?

• Are we measuring what really matters?

The organisations that can answer "yes" to these questions are typically those delivering more predictable project outcomes and creating lasting value for clients.
